Frequently Asked Questions

What is bbcdiff.com?

It's a site that essentially tracks changes made to BBC News articles.

Why bother?

To see what kind of corrections and/or removals are made after an article is published. The vast majority of diffs are likely going to be grammatical changes or typo corrections. Some changes may be political in nature; these will be the more interesting ones.

How does it work?

Every 5 minutes, BBCdiff scrapes the 30 or so 'Top Stories' from BBC News. It compares the article text to any previous versions of that article it may have saved. If there are any differences, a new revision is created and the diffs are calculated between this and the previous revision.
